Pettifers, Wardington - Northamptonshire

No single day has been better spent than on the photography workshop with the outstandingly brilliant garden and landscape photographer Clive Nichols. It took place on Clive’s doorstep in the village of Wardington at Pettifers - a garden abundant with colour and texture all year round. The delicious and very memorable lunch in the kitchen provided by the Owner and guardian of the incredible Pettifers @virginiayprice with her gardener Polly. Do look up opening times across the season - it is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential gardens in England .

Dungeness

Back when Derek Jarman created his cottage garden at his elegant fishing hut I experienced Dungeness in Kent for the first time. It was a field trip in January and we had horizontal snow - blizzard like conditions. The photographs I took there informed my project which was based on the films of Andrei Tarkovsky. I used my greatly loved Olympus OM-1N and processed all the film and print myself… I must find these!

When I returned last year with my family and dog we enjoyed together the vast sky and gravelly headland. Not a lot had changed. The remnants of fishing boats and the tracks taking them to the water are feast for the photographer with colour and texture constantly shifting with the light.
